Bayern Munich have rejected an approach from fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for 22-year-old Croatian defender Josip Stanišić, according to Bild.
SGE want to sign a right-back on loan before the September 1 deadline after switching from a back three to a back four. Sporting director Markus Krösche had identified Stanišić, who can operate on either flank, but their approach was rebuffed with Bayern wanting to keep the player at the Allianz Arena this season.
Against Cologne last weekend, defensive-midfielder Kristijan Jakić (25) played at right-back and Borussia Dortmund’s Ansgar Knauff has featured there, despite being a winger. Summer arrival Aurélio Buta (25) is out long-term and Timothy Chandler (32) has only just returned to training.
Stanišić was given his Bundesliga debut by Hansi Flick in April 2021. Last season, the Croatia international played 15 games across all competitions for Julian Nagelsmann, who values the player highly.
For Bayern Munich, Stanišić has played 19 games.
