Liverpool host PSG tonight at Anfield for the Champions League RO16 return leg. Arne Slot’s Reds lead the tie on aggregate courtesy of Harvey Elliott’s 87th-minute dagger last week at Parc des Princes. The Dutchman has called on his players to step up their intensity and energy as to not replicate their performance in the first leg, when the Ligue 1 leaders completely outplayed Liverpool with the Premier League runaway leaders indebted to an all-timer goalkeeping performance from Alisson Becker.
Unlike PSG head coach Luis Enrique, Slot is expected to tweak his Liverpool team as he revealed midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai felt fatigue recently. The Hungarian international is poised to start on the bench with Elliott given the nod alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz are nailed on to start tonight at Anfield. The third man up front is expected to be Darwin Núñez. The Uruguay international played a crucial part in last week’s tie in assisting Elliott and he was also involved in two goals this Saturday against Southampton.
Five Liverpool players – Mac Allister, Elliott, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté and Andy Robertson – will miss out on a potential quarter-final first leg should they receive a booking tonight.
