Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac is set to be more ruthless when it comes to dropping players following a string of poor results.
It has already been reported that Kovac gave the squad a dressing down on Sunday, following their 1-0 loss to Augsburg on Saturday afternoon.
Now, Kovac is set to become more ruthless when it comes to dropping players who have been playing poorly. The head coach has made it clear to the players that he does not care about names and is ready to drop anyone not performing.
Jamie Gittens and Julian Brandt are said to be two of the names that could be dropped from the Dortmund squad ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second leg against Lille on Wednesday. Since the arrival of Kovac, both have performed considerably below their levels, while Brandt has not been good enough all season. This could open the door for Maximilian Beier, Julien Duranville and Carney Chukwuemeka to start.
An argument could be made that most of the Dortmund team deserves to be dropped. The only issue is that there are not enough players to replace them.
