With the exception of a one-and-a-half year loan spell at Dutch side PSV, Mario Götze has spent his entire career in Germany.
Speaking to Bild, the 32-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder has expressed his desire to move abroad again in the future.
“We are thinking about going abroad and giving ourselves and the kids this experience,” Götze said.
“I have almost always lived and played in Germany. Going abroad is exciting for my children and for Ann-Kathrin and me.
“But our roots in Germany will remain and if we go through with the plan, we will definitely come back.”
Asked if he could see himself leaving Germany during or after his career, Götze replied:
“Either way is a possibility. The latter in any case, we’ll see about the other.”
Götze’s contract with Eintracht runs until 2026.
