Samuel Umtiti arrived in Italy on Thursday evening, ahead of completing his move to Serie A side Lecce.
The Frenchman has struggled with injuries at Camp Nou and the move to Italy could provide him with a fresh start.
Almost two years of injuries since he joined the Blaugrana have seen him miss 105 games and make just 133 appearances.
Since signing for Barça, Umtiti has been out of action for a total of 606 days, according to Sport.
62% of Umtiti’s total number of games played for the club were during his first two seasons, the rest are divided between the four subsequent seasons.
He joins Lecce on a loan deal with no option to buy.
Lecce will reportedly pay a small part of the player’s salary. Umtiti will return to Barcelona on 1 July 2023 and his contract at Camp Nou runs until 2026.
The Frenchman will be hoping to help the current Serie B champions maintain their top-flight status.
