Sport Bild reports that Vincent Kompany will not face any pressure surrounding his job if Bayern Munich fails in the Champions League this season.
It is said that Bayern winning the league this season will be enough to not increase pressure on the former defender’s job. Die Rekordmeister are currently eight points clear of second place and defending champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this season.
In the Champions League, Bayern face Leverkusen in the round of 16. In the three games that they have already played in this season, there have been two draws and Leverkusen won the meeting between them at the same stage in the DFB Pokal earlier in the season.
The final of this season’s Champions League is at Bayern’s home, the Allianz Arena.
When it comes to Kompany’s predecessors, things have not been so easy. Despite winning the league in his first season, Julian Nagelsmann was then sacked as head coach before the business end of the season before being replaced by Thomas Tuchel, who scraped over the line to win the league before finishing third in his second season and taking hte club to a respectable Champions League semi-final finish.
Unlike Nagelsmann and Tuchel, Kompany has the support of the board and most importantly the team.
