Carney Chukwuemeka, who joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer window, finally made his Bundesliga debut for the Black and Yellows in Saturday’s 6-0 win over Union Berlin after initially being hampered by a knee injury.
BVB coach Niko Kovac was delighted with what he saw from the 21-year-old in the 20 minutes the midfielder was on the pitch.
“Carney came on and was sensational. We saw what he can do,” Kovac told reporters after the game, adding:
“The 20 minutes he played were unbelievably good.
“The way he takes the ball, the way he immediately turns in the direction of play, it’s unique.
“He has very good acceleration and technical ability. The guy will give us a lot of joy if he stays fit.”
