In his pre-match press conference ahead of Lyon’s clash with PSG, Paulo Fonseca revealed Alexandre Lacazette (33) is a fitness doubt for the match set to take place at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday evening.
The former Arsenal striker was most recently used as a second-half substitute in OL’s convincing 4-1 victory against Montpellier. Despite only coming on in the second half, this didn’t stop the Lyon captain from making an impact as he scored his side’s 4th goal of the match against the relegation strugglers.
Georges Mikautadze was signed by Les Gones in the summer and this has seen the former France international’s duties as the starting striker shared more often than he will have been ever used to before at his boyhood club. Lacazette has only started one of the three games coached by Paulo Fonseca since he was appointed as the Rhône club’s new head coach. It has now been revealed this could have been for fitness reasons.
Commenting on Lacazette, the Lyon boss said, “He is not 100%. He is training, making efforts but he has pain. He needs time to get back to 100%. There are few players with such quality in the last 30 meters and this goalscoring instinct.”
