Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger spoke earlier today to BeIn Sports about his former side’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season. The Frenchman subtly admitted that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have little chance of winning their first English league title since 2004, as the London club still trails Liverpool by seven points in the Premier League table.
“Look it’s simple as they [the other presenters] said. They need to lose games. But now we have played 25 games and Liverpool have lost one. They will have to lose at least three in the next thirteen games,” said the longest serving manager of the Gunners. “So at this moment it looks unlikely unless they collapse. But until now they have lost only one game.”
“So they are the super favourites. On top of that Arsenal have to make another perfect run. So I pray, but I have to improve the quality of my praying,” finished the 75-year-old with a wry smile.
Next up the Gunners face West Ham in the Premier League at the Emirates, ahead of a tough trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest four days later.
