Tottenham are hoping to sign a midfielder with “undoubted quality”, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Antonio Conte has already brought in seven new players this window, but the Spurs boss is still hoping to bolster his central department with the addition of a creative midfielder.
What’s the latest news involving Tottenham?
It’s been a promising start to the season for the north Londoners, who sit third behind neighbours Arsenal and Manchester City following victories over Southampton and Wolves, sandwiched between a draw at Chelsea.
Fraser Forster, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie, Ivan Perisic, Clement Lenglet, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison have all arrived in N17 since the window opened, although Conte is still looking for further reinforcements, particularly in midfield, where his side have occasionally lacked creativity.

Spurs mustered up just three attempts in the first half of their last two Premier League games, and particularly struggled against Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves at the weekend.
They tried to re-sign Christian Eriksen earlier this window before he joined Manchester United, while Tottenham have been linked with Leicester ace James Maddison and Ukraine international Ruslan Malinovskyi, who’s on their radar following his impressive form in Serie A.
Manchester United youngster James Garner, who’s valued at around £20m, is another wanted by Conte, but Jones doesn’t reckon the 21-year-old would fulfil the Italian’s needs.
What did Jones say about Tottenham?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I was always told that if they brought in a midfielder it would be someone who added undoubted quality and maybe even a bit of luxury to the squad and Garner would not really be under that umbrella for me.”
Who could Tottenham sign?
With Bryan Gil, who’s been on the bench for Spurs’ first three Premier League games, expected to secure a loan move to Valencia, Conte could opt to replace him with another attacker.
While a midfielder would appear higher on his priority list heading into the final days of the window, The Athletic have claimed that Tottenham are set to sign a replacement for the young Spaniard, despite failing to ever start in the Premier League.
It remains unclear whether that’ll be a number ten or another wide forward following Steven Bergwijn’s switch to Ajax, but any form of attacking player could see a good squad potentially become a great one depending on who they manage to sign.
