Tottenham Hotspur have wrapped up a €60m agreement with Bayern Munich to sign French striker Mathys Tel (19), according to reports from Le Parisien and L’Equipe. The highly-rated France U21 international has put Premier League clubs on red alert after requesting a transfer request to secure regular football. The 19-year-old is playing a mostly peripheral role under the tutelage of Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany. Tel is under contract with Bayern Munich until 2029.
Tottenham were reportedly the most insistent Premier League club to get a deal done with the Bundesliga giants as Technical Director Johan Lange traveled to Germany recently to convince Tel he should pursue his career in North London. L’Equipe and Le Parisien both report Tel is yet to make his decision as the Frenchman will favor a move to a club that will give the most chance of featuring regularly.
Other Premier League clubs are expected to submit similar bids given Tel’s status as a rare market opportunity. Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa are reportedly moniroting the Stade Rennais Academy graduate’s situation.
