Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund have given consultant Matthias Sammer an ultimatum which will decide upon his future at the club.
The former midfielder and Ballon d’Or winner is currently a consultant at the club, whilst also acting as a TV pundit for Amazon Prime’s Champions League coverage in Germany.
Dortmund have told Sammer that if he is to continue as a consultant at the club he must have a ban on being a pundit for their Champions League games going forward. If this is not possible, then he will be let go by the club. Last week, Sammer gave some questionable comments about Dortmund ahead of their Champions League tie against Bologna, which was the game in which Nuri Şahin was sacked as head coach after a 2-1 loss.
On top of this, Sammer is on the side of Sven Mislintat when it comes to the power struggle that is currently engulfing the club’s hierarchy.
Sammer has been a consultant at Dortmund since 2018.
