Leeds United are interested in signing Watford winger Ismaila Sarr ahead of the transfer deadline but the player is not desperate to leave Vicarage Road, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.
Jesse Marsch has overseen a hectic few months of business at Elland Road but he could still strengthen his squad ahead of September 1.
What is the latest transfer news from Leeds?
Attacking reinforcements appear to be a priority in West Yorkshire. This week has seen the club submit a £4.2 million offer for FC Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto, according to reports in Italy, although the Swiss side are demanding closer to £6.7 million.
Sarr is also understood to be a top target at Elland Road, with Watford apparently unlikely to stand in his way but only if their £29 million asking price is met.
This season has seen Marsch add seven new faces to his side and splash £95 million, with the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams arriving.
It was a much-needed spending spree, however, with influential duo Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips departing for Barcelona and Manchester City respectively.
What has Talbot said about interest in Sarr?
Talbot understands that Leeds are interested in signing the 24-year-old this summer.
However, the journalist adds that the player himself does not appear to be overly eager to leave this summer.
Talbot told GIVEMESPORT: “I heard Leeds were interested as well. I know the player’s had representatives speaking with clubs and trying to get the move away. But also he doesn’t seem to be completely desperate to move.”
Would Sarr be a good signing for Leeds?
The 47-cap Senegal international has already shown he has what it takes to thrive in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 50 appearances.
In total, Sarr has scored 48 goals in his senior career, across spells with Rennes, Metz and Watford.
There is no doubt that, after losing Raphinha, Leeds are lacking star power in the final third of the pitch and someone capable of winning a game on their own.
Sarr has previously been described as a “superstar” and “exceptional” by those who have seen him in action and, after scoring from inside his own half this season against West Brom, it is hard to disagree.
With Sinisterra already suffering an injury, the Whites could clearly do with some added depth out wide. It may just depend on whether or not Leeds are willing to splash the cash again.
