Sahin not feeling under pressure despite Dortmund crisis

Despite being in the midst of a crisis with Borussia Dortmund, Nuri Sahin was in an optimistic state of mind at the press conference ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Bologna.

After Borussia Dortmund suffered their third defeat in a row on Friday, losing 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt, the club’s managing director for sport, Lars Ricken, made it very clear that a win is needed in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Bologna.

According to various reports, Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin’s future is likely to depend on Tuesday’s result in Italy, with only a win guaranteeing his job.

Despite this, Sahin insisted at his pre-match press conference that he’s not worn down by the situation.

“Of course the situation affects each and every one of us. But I don’t feel any pressure at all. It’s not like I’m going to lie down in the corner now,” said Sahin.

“I am fine. I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow and I’m confident we’ll get the three points.”

Sitting next to Sahin, centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck admitted that “the mood has been better in the past”.

“This is not an easy time for any of us.

“Every player is unhappy with the situation,” Schlotterbeck continued, pointing out that it’s up to the players as well as the coach to turn things around.

“The team is obliged to deliver,” the German international emphasized.
