Everton boss Frank Lampard has made Chelsea striker Armando Broja his ‘top target’ as he bids to bolster his Goodison Park squad ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
The Toffees have spent more than £30million since the summer window opened for business, but Lampard could welcome further reinforcements to Merseyside ahead of September 1.

What’s the latest news involving Broja?
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed that Broja is Everton’s first choice centre forward target with the deadline fast approaching.
It is understood that the Toffees’ interest in the Chelsea man is ‘ongoing’ and there is still room in their budget for further additions.
However, Everton are not the only interested party as West Ham United were close to reaching an agreement over Broja last month, but a move failed to come to fruition despite a £30million bid being in the offing.
The 20-year-old is also one of four Chelsea stars – along with Conor Gallagher, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi – on Newcastle United’s radar.
Leicester City and Leeds United are providing Everton, West Ham and Newcastle with additional competition for Broja’s signature.
What has Ryan Taylor said about Broja?
Taylor believes that Broja is at the top of Lampard’s shortlist of targets with the transfer window’s closure looming.
However, the journalist feels Everton may struggle to get a deal over the line ahead of the September 1 deadline.
He understands that Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel is desperate to keep Broja at Stamford Bridge.
Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: “Broja is probably their top target. But it’s such a difficult deal to do because, at the moment, Tuchel is very much adamant he’s going nowhere.”
Why is Broja the top target for Everton?
Broja sprung to Lampard’s attention during a productive loan spell with Premier League rivals Southampton last season.
He found the back of the net nine times and registered a further assist during his time on the south coast.
Having sold Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur for £60million last month, Everton are light at the top end of the pitch and matters have got worse.
That is because Dominic Calvert-Lewin has suffered a freak knee injury in training, leading to him being sidelined for up to a month and leaving Salomon Rondon as the Toffees’ only out-and-out striker.
With that being the case, a move for 14-cap Albania international Broja makes perfect sense for the Merseyside outfit.
