Mainz 05 will be without Jonathan Burkardt when they face Union Berlin in the Bundesliga away from home on Sunday.
As Die Nullfünfer announced on Friday, the striker “sustained a slight pull of the left hamstring” in Mainz’s midweek 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
It’s unclear when Burkardt will be able to return, but Mainz coach Bo Henriksen doesn’t expect him to be out for long.
“It was important to Jonny that the injury wasn’t serious. He is remaining optimistic and should be back and able to help us again soon,” said Henriksen on Friday.
