Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that a target date has been pencilled in for David Alaba’s return to competitive action.
And the news will no doubt bring about a collective smile on the part of Real Madrid supporters the world over.
This comes after the versatile stopper suffered an ACL tear, during a La Liga meeting with Villarreal.
Recent weeks have seen Alaba take sizeable steps forward in his recovery, the latest of which came on Tuesday, upon the Austrian joining his teammates in group training drills with the ball at Valdebebas.
During his latest pre-match press conference on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Alaba’s impending return was put to the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti.
And Ancelotti, in his response, went as far as to outline a likely return date for the former Bayern Munich man:
“David Alaba is close to playing games! January 20th. We will rotate more now, especially in defence.”
