Woo-yeong Jeong will miss Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen after picking up an injury last week, Union Berlin coach Bo Svensson confirmed on Thursday.
His absence could give Yorbe Vetessen a chance in the starting line-up.
“Yorbe is a candidate to replace Jeong,” said Bo Svensson at his pre-match press conference.
“He has a lot of potential and shows flashes of quality – but unfortunately not consistently. He’s still a young player who just needs to figure out how to make the most of his qualities.”
Vertessen has come off the bench in Union’s last three Bundesliga matches. He has scored two goals in 16 games this season.
