After a long injury lay-off, David Raum could make his comeback against Bayern Munich on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose said the left-back “could be an option for five, 10 or 15 minutes” against the Bavarians after recovering from an ankle ligament injury.
But Xavi Simons, who is working his way back from a similar injury, will need a little more time.
“With Xavi, we’ve decided that it doesn’t make sense yet. He will train here in Leipzig today and tomorrow so that he can be fully fit on January 2, when we start again after the break,” said Rose.
Yussuf Poulsen, Castello Jr. and Eljif Elmas remain sidelined, while Kevin Kampl and Amadou Haidara, who are both struggling with muscular problems, will be assessed after the final training session.
