The draw for the World Cup qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup took place today with Germany finding out the potential opponents.
Who Germany are actually in a group with is conditional depending on their result against Italy in the Nations League quarter-finals in March. The first leg will be played in Italy on the 20th of March while the second leg will be played in Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park three days later.
If Germany beat Italy they will be in a group with Slovakia, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg. While if they lose, they will then face Norway, Israel, Estonia and Moldova.
With the trajectory that Germany has been on since EURO 2024 and the quality that they have at their disposal, booking their ticket for the USA, Canada and Mexico editions of the World Cup should be relatively straightforward, barring any major hiccup. If Germany do qualify, they will be seen as one of the favourites.
