Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is planning to use his contacts at Manchester United to sign midfielder Toby Collyer in January, according to the Sun.
The Dutchman is a huge fan of the Red Devils academy graduate and is now looking forward to reuniting with the 20-year-old.
However, Man United are not interested in selling Collyer but could be open-minded to a loan move, and their former interim boss is set to make a loan bid for him.
Van Nistelrooy left the Old Trafford club following the arrival of Ruben Amorim but immediately secured a return to the Premier League,
He started his reign with the Foxes with a 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Tuesday.
The Dutchman wants to bolster his squad in January to boost the chances of Leicester staying up, and he has identified Collyer as a player capable of making the team better.
Collyer made his first-team debut in the Community Shield against Manchester City in August, coming on for the final 31 minutes.
He then replaced Casemiro at half-time in the 3-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League the following month.
The versatile defensive midfielder featured at left-back against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup almost three months ago and has yet to play since then.
He is unlikely to get regular chances under Amorim this season, but Van Nistelrooy is willing to give him an opportunity at Leicester.
Such a loan move could be beneficial for his development, and it will be up to the club to make the decision they think is best for him.
