Chrislain Matsima’s (22) time at AS Monaco may be over, according to a report from Sky Sports Germany. The France youth international signed for Augsburg on loan in the summer and the Bundesliga side are now ready to make the move permanent.
Matsima came through the ranks at Monaco, making 41 appearances for the first team. He has also spent time out on loan at FC Lorient and Clermont Foot. Despite featuring for the Principality club last season, his prospects were limited this season with the completion of Thilo Kehrer’s move to Monaco, as well as the arrival of Christian Mawissa from Toulouse FC.
He was therefore sent out on loan to Augsburg in Germany in a deal that included the option to make the move permanent. After convincing in his seven appearances for the Bundesliga club so far, that move is expected to be made permanent at the end of the season.
Whilst no definitive decision has been made on Matsima’s future, the current trend is that Augsburg will trigger that €5m option. The France youth international’s contract at Monaco runs until 2026.
