As reported by as, Real Madrid could opt to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen this winter.
The La Liga champions have been forced to put money aside this winter in order to buy a central defender. This comes following an injury to Éder Militão who suffered a cruciate ligament rupture last weekend in a 4-0 win over CA Osasuna.
Additionally, Real’s alternative back-ups Daniel Carvajal and David Alaba are currently on the injury list.
Simply put: Real must buy a defender in the January transfer window.
The Cheapest Option
From a Real point-of-view, Tah would be the most cost-effective option. The German international is out of a contract next summer and is free to speak to clubs from the new year.
With Tah not willing to sign a new deal with Leverkusen, Real could pay a cheaper fee for the experienced defender. This also means that B04 would then get some sort of fee for the outgoing 28 year old.
Elsewhere Real are also looking at Aymeric Laporte (30) at Al Nassr and Jorrel Hato (18) from Ajax.
Will Bayern Act?
Bayern Munich have previously been linked with Tah and very nearly signed him last summer. However, a deal never got over the line as B04 and Bayern could never agree to terms.
If Real do open negotiations with Tah’s representatives, Bayern may be forced to act this winter instead of waiting for the upcoming summer.
Whether Bayern are willing to pay a fee for Tah in January remains to be seen.
