Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in Hoffenheim’s highly-rated youth midfielder Tom Bischof as his contract expires in the summer.
Bischof has become a regular for Hoffenheim this season featuring in the Bundesliga as well as the Europa League as the side struggle in 16th place in the league. The 19-year-old was also recently awarded the Fritz Walter Gold Medal in the under-19 category for German youth players. Bischof is also regularly compared to former Bayern Munich midfielder Mehmet Scholl due to his style of play.
With Bischof’s contract expiring at Hoffenheim in the summer he can leave the club on a free and is already attracting interest from bigger teams. Serie A side Bologna are interested but so are Bundesliga rivals Frankfurt. Die Adler is currently the youngest team in the league and has proven to be the go-to place for young players to develop with young talents such as Can Uzun, Hugo Larsson, Fares Chaibi and Hugo Ekitike all moving to the club in recent years.
However, Hoffenheim will still try to extend Bischof’s contract. Their bargaining position could be made more difficult however if they continue to struggle at the bottom end of the Bundesliga, while Frankfurt challenge for a Champions League spot.
