Castello Lukeba (21) has put pen to paper over a contract extension with RB Leipzig. The Olympique Lyonnais Academy graduate is now tied with the Red Bull-owned Bundesliga football club over a new long-term contract set to expire in 2029. Lukeba joined RB Leipzig last year in a €35m move from formative club Lyon. The left-footed centre-back quickly established himself as one of the best prospects in his position. The 1-time France international is a regular starter for Marco Rose’s Leipzig, who have the best defense in the Bundesliga.
According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, RB Leipzig are expecting bids for Lukeba as early as next summer with Real Madrid, Liverpool FC and Manchester United reportedly interested in the Frenchman, who also clinched a silver medal with Thierry Henry’s Olympic football team during the 2024 Paris Games. Lukeba is expected to start tonight at the Red Bull Arena with Leipzig hosting Liverpool for matchday 3 of the Champions League.
