Against Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt couldn’t find a single glimmer of hope to save their lives in the first half. However, when summer transfer Randal Kolo Muani was given a chance, they clearly played with a bit more ambition. Frankfurt may have found themselves a true gem, for free.

After totaling 21 goals and 13 assists in the last two seasons at FC Nantes in Ligue 1, Frankfurt were able to bring the French striker to the Bundesliga on a free. Captain Sebastian Rode states that, “He’s incredibly fast, duel strong and big, which makes him a different element near the penalty area. It’s important to get him used to our system as quickly as possible, then it will give (the team) a lot of pleasure.”

Kolo Muani was able to reach an impressive speed of 33.49 km/hr in just his first Bundesliga outing. At 6′ 2″, the 23-year-old is an imposing force inside the box with the pace to get past center-backs. He is a different player to Rafael Borre, who’s better at holding up play to start an attack. Kolo Muani is suited to pounce on through-balls, while using his speed and dribbling skills to create goal opportunities.

In a Kicker interview Kolo Muani added that, “I try to improve every year and exceed (my goals) accordingly…I work a lot to get into finishing situations more often. I have to improve there, it will be important to practice more situations like this.”

After his Matchday 1 breakthrough, Kolo Muani could see even more playing time when Frankfurt travel to face Real Madrid in the Super Cup on Wednesday.
