Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Wednesday revealed his admiration for a pair of the club’s next crop of up-and-coming talents.
The pair in question? The Fernández cousins.
For those not familiar with their names, Toni and Guille Fernández have long been making names for themselves as two of the standout starlets in all of Spanish football.
Both 16, they are separated by mere months in age.
Guille is a midfielder, whilst Toni is a goalscorer, with both having already managed to find the net for Barca Atlètic over the early weeks of the term.
As a reward for their efforts, the Fernándezs were today afforded a call-up to Barcelona’s senior squad, for the club’s Champions League opener against AS Monaco.
Speaking to the media in anticipation of the clash, it therefore came as little surprise when the names of both Toni and Guille were put to manager Hansi Flick.
And, in his response, the German tactician was full of praise for both players:
“The Fernández cousins are improving day by day. It’s impressive how La Masia manages to develop players. I have no doubt that they are going to be very good players from what I see in training.”
