According to a report by L’Équipe, Wissam Ben Yedder (34) has suggested that he would be willing to go to alcohol rehabilitation to avoid pretrial detention.
The striker was detained by the police between the 6th and 7th of September 2024 and charged with sexual assault while intoxicated. Ben Yedder was later released under judicial supervision pending a hearing scheduled for the 15th of October. However, the Nice public prosecutor’s office decided to appeal his release.
On the 17th of September, a hearing on the matter was held. In order, to avoid pretrial detention, Ben Yedder reportedly stated that he was respecting the terms of his judicial supervision: twice-weekly check-ins, a ban on attending bars or nightclubs, a ban on leaving his home between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., and an obligation to undergo treatment. The footballer also offered to undergo alcohol rehabilitation.
A decision on whether Ben Yedder will be detained ahead of his trial will be made tomorrow morning.
