Here is our preview of Tuesday’s UEFA Nations League clash between the Netherlands and Germany, including our predicted lineups.
Two football giants go head-to-head on Tuesday night when the Netherlands host Germany in the UEFA Nations League at the Amsterdam Arena.
Both teams scored five goals in their Nations League openers, with the Netherlands beating Bosnia-Herzegovina 5-2 and Germany thrashing Hungary 5-0, suggesting there will be plenty of entertainment on offer.
Germany’s 5-0 win was a strong statement in their first game after the international retirements of veterans Manuel Neuer, Ilkay Gündogan, Toni Kroos and Thomas Müller.
Youngsters Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz stole the show for Germany in Saturday’s win, and coach Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping for more of the same.
“When two players find themselves playing like Wirtz and Musiala, it’s an absolute dream,” he said after the win over Hungary.
The two teams last met in March, when Germany came out on top, turning a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Maximilian Mittelstädt and Niclas Füllkrug.
Germany have no new injury concerns and are expected to name the same team as against Hungary.
Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman could also name an unchanged side, although Donyell Malen and Wout Weghorst are pushing to start.
