According to the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, VfL Wolfsburg are showing significant interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Salih Özcan.
It had previously been reported that Dortmund are looking to offload Özcan before the end of the transfer window.
While 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 had shown interest in the 26-year-old, it was believed that a transfer would be difficult to achieve, and the player himself is not looking to make a move to Germany’s second tier.
Regardless, now Wolfsburg are looking to make an approach for Özcan.
It is understood that talks between Wolfsburg and Özcan have been positive, while negotiations between Dortmund and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side are progressing.
Despite interest from Wolfsburg, there are a number of Turkish sides also showing interest in the midfielder, while remaining at BvB is still considered a possibility.
Since joining Die Schwarzgelben in 2022 for €5 million, Özcan has featured 70 times, registering two assists, but has failed to score during his time at BvB.
