Eintracht Frankfurt striker Faride Alidou is headed back out on loan again. Alidou’s rumored move to the Serie A’s Hellas Verona was officially confirmed early Sunday afternoon. Most all German footballing media sources confirm that a purchase option is part of the arrangement. Italian media reports claim that “I Mastini” can purchase the Germany U21 international permanently for around €4 million. It’s not clear at this time if – as was the case the last time the 23-year-old was loaned out by Frankfurt – a buyback option is part of the deal.
Alidou joined Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2022 after lighting it up in the second division for Hamburger SV. After an inconspicuous 2022/23 campaign, he was loaned out to ultimately relegated Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln last year, actually enjoying some success with four league goals for die Geißböcke. As was the case in his first season on the Main, the competition in the SGE was simply too great for Alidou to hope for playing time. His current contract in Frankfurt remains valid through the end of next season.
“It is currently very important for Faride to get regular playing time and make competitive appearances,” SGE sporting director Timmo Hardung noted in a club statement, “At Hellas Verona, he can gain further experience in a strong and exciting league. We wish him a successful and injury-free season in Italy.”
