Bild reports that SC Freiburg are intensely courting Hertha Berlin’s talisman, Fabian Reese as the winger continues to dream of playing in the Bundesliga.
Reese is currently out with an ankle injury but that has not stopped Freiburg from trying to pursue the attacker. However, a move will not come cheap.
The 26-year-old has attracted interest from Bundesliga sides before but after signing a contract extension in February, it could cost Freiburg a total of €10m to lure him away from Berlin. For Hertha, this is a problem. If Freiburg offer them a good enough fee for the attack then they will most likely have to sell as they need money and can only really generate revenue from selling players.
Last season, Reese was one of Hertha’s most important players along side Haris Tabakovic as he scored nine and provided 11 assists as Hertha finished a lowly ninth.
The acquisition of Reese would add another much-needed different dynamic to the Freiburg attack and reduce the reliance on Vincenzo Grifo, Ritsu Doan and Roland Sallai. This summer, Freiburg have already completed the signings fo Eren Dinkci from Werder Bremen, Maximilian Philipp from Wolfsburg and Patrick Osterhage from Bochum.
