Marcel Sabitzer believes the appointment of Nuri Sahin as head coach has had a promising effect.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has welcomed the “fresh start” Nuri Sahin’s appointment as head coach has given the club.
Sahin has replaced Edin Terzic in the dugout ahead of the 2024/25 season, and Sabitzer is optimistic that the Black and Yellows will enjoy a good campaign under the new coach.
“I think a fresh start with Nuri Sahin is helpful. He demands a lot and has a clear vision,” Sabitzer told Kicker.
“We’re all motivated, very positive about the new season and we have a good squad. We are striving for the maximum and that must be our ambition.”
Despite the arrival of Pascal Gross from Brighton & Hove Albion, Sabitzer isn’t too worried that his own chances of starting will diminish.
“Of course I know him from his time at Ingolstadt, where he made a big impact. He also did a very good job in England. I’m very flexible and can play almost anywhere from six to attack,” said Sabitzer.
“The most important thing is that I can identify with the football being played. It suits me and that’s why I’m open to all positions. If a coach trusts me, he knows what he can get from me and I won’t let him down. With Nuri at the helm, that trust is definitely there.”
