According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are trying to hijack Juventus’ move for Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo (24). The France international has expressed his desire to join the Serie A club but it appears a move to Italy may no longer be on the cards.
The Hammers’ sporting director Tim Steidten has travelled to the Côte d’Azur in the hope of hijacking a potential deal with Juventus. The Bianconeri have been in talks with Les Aiglons for weeks but have still received no green light to progress on a deal from the Ligue 1 club, Romano reports.
West Ham and Nice have reached an agreement on a transfer fee for Todibo worth €40m plus an additional sell-on clause for any future sale. If everything goes to plan, the East London club are hoping for Todibo to complete a medical on Friday. The 24-year-old may be seen as a replacement for club captain Kurt Zouma who is set to leave the club and join Dubai-based Shabab Al-Ahli.
