Osasuna captain and Spain international David Garcia is closing in on a move to the Middle East this summer, as Los Rojillo take a final chance to cash in on the veteran.
After talks with Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, it seems Al-Rayyan in Qatar are now best placed to sign the 30-year-old. Relevo reveal that if their offer, now at €7.5m, is increased a little bit more towards the €10m they are demanding for his signature, then it will likely be accepted.
Should the move take place, Sporting Director Braulio Vazquez has already lined up Alaves defender Abdel Abqar as his replacement, although any deal hinges on Garcia’s sale to be able to afford it.
Losing Garcia will be a major blow for Osasuna. He was all set to be part of the Spain Euro 2024 squad before an injury in spring ruled him out. In recent seasons, Garcia has been a stalwart at the back for Osasuna, although Abqar is a strong option to replace him, based off of last season’s performances.
