Olympique de Marseille are exploring a move to sign Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther (28) according to a report this Wednesday from Fabrizio Romano. The Roberto De Zerbi-led Ligue 1 side is planning a major revamp of their squad with goalkeeper Pau López (29) expected to leave Les Phocéens, despite proving one of Marseille’s best performers during his three seasons in France. The Spaniard has reportedly agreed to join promoted Serie A side Como 1907.
It has been previously reported that Marseille considered the signing of Poland international goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny (34) as a free agent after the former Arsenal goalie left Juventus at the end of his contract. Fabrizio Romano reports that Marseille have “made contact” to pursue a move for Wellenreuther. The former Germany U21 international shared goalkeeping duties with Dutch international Justin Biljow (26) at Arne Slot’s Feyenoord last season, playing 19 games.
Wellenreuther is reportedly high on a list of goalkeepers Marseille are considering bringing to the Vélodrome. The German goalkeeper is tied with the Eredivisie side with a contract set to expire in 2027 after extending his contract this July.
