Rayan Cherki’s move to Borussia Dortmund is on hold, according to Patrick Berger.
BVB and the Lyon midfielder have an agreement in place but have yet to solidify the deal, despite reports in France.
The reason why the transfer is on hold for now is because Dortmund are prioritising other signings.
This includes the imminent signing of Pascal Groß from Brighton and talking with Manchester City regarding their right-back Yan Couto.
However, this does not mean that Cherki won’t end up in Dortmund by the end of the window.
The 20-year-old has rejected a move from PSG in order to sign for BVB. It’s just a matter of being patient from Cherki’s point of view.
Last season, Cherki featured 39 times for the French outfit, scoring three goals and registering nine assists.
At just 20 years of age, Cherki is pretty much guaranteed more game time at Dortmund than in Paris. With Dormtund having a track record of improving players before getting them a big money move, it’s clear why Cherki wants to play for BVB next season.
