Timo Werner wants to leave Chelsea, as his struggles to find himself consistently in the starting lineup continue. Chelsea are willing to let the attacker leave on loan or permanently through a swap deal with Leipzig for Joško Gvardiol. From a Leipzig point a view, a swap deal will not be accepted.
Leipzig would prefer to bring Werner in on loan, as he’s willing to take a 50% pay cut to join the club. They would also like to keep Gvardiol, as Leipzig reportedly turned down an €80 million offer from Manchester City for the young Croatian.

Gvardiol has a contract until 2026 in Germany and it’s very likely he will stay unless a ludicrous offer comes along. Werner’s return to Leipzig is looking more and more likely, although this difficult deal will take some time.
