Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg Alsace have announced that Patrick Vieira is no longer the head coach of Les Alsaciens. In their press release, the BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 stressed that the decision to end their collaboration with the 1998 World Cup winner with France has been mutually agreed. However, L’Equipe understand that Strasbourg has sacked the former Arsenal legend, considering he was not in accordance anymore with the club’s project.
Patrick Vieira signed a three-year deal with Strasbourg last summer as he was meant to kickstart the BlueCo era at the club. The team eventually finished the 2023-2024 Ligue 1 season in a worrying 13th place. Strasbourg have acknowledged Patrick Vieira’s tenure at the club and emphasized his impeccable commitment. “Indeed, in a season of transition, Patrick was able to help young talents progress and always displayed exemplary behavior on and off the field.” Strasbourg adds that a new coach would be announced soon.
