According to Fabrice Hawkins, Chelsea’s contingent of French players are angry with their Argentinian teammate Enzo Fernández (23) after he filmed post-match celebrations from the Copa América which involved racist chanting about players in the France national team.
The Premier League club have a large group of French players including Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and Benoït Badiashille. Argentina players could be seen chanting a racist song about the heritage of players within the France squad whilst celebrating their Copa América final victory against Colombia.
Players from the Albiceleste following the final could be heard chanting the following song in a video filmed by Fernández, “They play for France, but they are from Angola. His mother is Nigerian, his father is Cameroonian. But on the passport: French.” As the person filming the video of the chants, Chelsea’s French players appear to be greatly upset with the former Benfica midfielder.
The French Football Federation have referred the racially targeted chanting from the Argentinian international players to FIFA. The international football governing body is yet to acknowledge the complaints raised by the French football chiefs.
