Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has given an update on the Serhou Guirassy situation after the Stuttgart striker failed his medical.
As recently confirmed by Borussia Dortmund, the signing of Serhou Guirassy has been put on hold after the Stuttgart forward’s medical revealed a knee injury.
Initial estimates of how long Guirassy could be sidelined range from four weeks to three months.
Only when the timeframe has been determined more precisely by a specialist, the BVB management will make a decision on whether to proceed with the signing.
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has now shared his thoughts on the situation.
“We didn’t know about it. He probably didn’t even know himself what had happened,” Watzke told Bild.
“If it’s something in the knee, you need a specialist’s opinion, anything else would be negligent. We all agreed that a specialist should look at it again,” he added.
Despite the setback, the transfer – worth a a transfer fee of €18 million – is not off the table.
“At the moment, everyone involved is still keen,” Watzke emphasized.
“But,” he added, “of course we need a reasonable statement about the nature of the injury.”
