As reported by AS, Xavi told César Azpilicueta to wait patiently to allow Barcelona to negotiate a deal for his transfer from Chelsea.
Despite signing Jules Koundé this week, it was communicated that the Blaugrana are still interested in signing the Spanish defender from Stamford Bridge, as Xavi believes he will be a vital addition to the team, as well as bringing invaluable leadership and experience to the side.
However, the two clubs have developed a strained relationship during this transfer window, as Barcelona managed to snatch up Jules Koundé and Raphinha, beating Chelsea’s bids for both players.
Even though Barcelona and Azpilicueta have agreed on personal terms, the club are still not close to an agreement over the transfer fee.
It is believed that the fee will end up being in the region of €4 million, with add-ons worth up to €2 million.
Xavi is hoping to seal the deal within the next two weeks and is confident that Azpilicueta will play for the club in the upcoming season.
