La Liga giants Barcelona look set to miss out on a leading summer transfer target to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing The Athletic, who point towards Dani Olmo as the player in question.
The name of Spanish international Olmo has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.
As much comes amid the widespread understanding that the RB Leipzig star is considered a priority target to reinforce the attacking tanks of incoming Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick.
Olmo’s technical qualities, as well as his versatility, make him a highly-desired target at the Camp Nou.
In turn, it will no doubt mark a source of concern for the Barcelona board to hear that the 26-year-old has also positioned himself high on the wishlist of another of Europe’s leading clubs.
As per the aforementioned MD:
‘Manchester City have accelerated the negotiations and are now the best placed to take the player.’
The Sky Blues consider Olmo as the perfect profile to act as the long-term replacement for the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.
It is in turn suggested that City ‘want to close his signing next week’, in the process dealing the aforementioned Barca a heavy blow.
