Hertha pick up former FCB prospect Cuisance

German second division side Hertha BSC confirmed the signing of French midfielder Michaël Cuisance on Friday. 

Having spent a season back in German football with relegated 2. Bundesliga side VfL Osnabrück, 24-year-old former FC Bayern München midfielder Michaël Cusiance is now moving to the German capital. Cuisance signed a two-year-deal with Charlottenburg’s Hertha BSC on Friday, moving from his Italian club of Venezia for a reported transfer fee – per Sky Germany – of €300,000. 

Cuisance enjoyed a relatively successful season with Osnabrück, notching three tallies and registering an assist for the relegated second division side. The once highly touted prospect still has much work to do in order to rebuild his career. Once considered a €12-million-valued prospect, the former Gladbach academy man’s estimated market worth remains a paltry €1.8 million. 

“Michael proved his talent early on at big clubs,” Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber noted in a club statement, “He has special skills with the bal. Despite his young age, he has already gained a lot of experience and has also learned how to deal with opposition. We are delighted that he will be wearing the blue and white jersey in the future.”

“I’ve learned to fight my way through adversity,” Cuisance himself added, “My family and I are very happy to have signed here. It’s a great move for us. It was an easy decision for me to take on this exciting task, because the club and I have the same goals. I can’t wait to train with the team and line up in the Olympic Stadium.”
