As reported by Sky Germany, RB Leipzig have reached a total agreement with Hoffenheim for David Raum (24). The Germany international is expected to sign a five-year deal, earning a salary close to €10m, making him one of Leipzig’s top earners.
Negotiations between Leipzig and Hoffenheim resumed on Wednesday after previous talks broke down following a disagreement over a transfer fee. Leipzig had offered €24m for Raum but it didn’t meet TSG’s valuation of around €28m-€30m – both parties have since come to an agreement.
Monitored by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Leipzig also leapfrogged Manchester United and Newcastle United to the signing of Raum, who only joined Hoffenheim on a free transfer last summer.
With no European football and heightened interest, Raum’s departure from Hoffenheim this summer was likely. During his first year, Raum created 13 goals and also completed the most crosses into the penalty area last season. Signed on a free transfer from Greuther Fürth, TSG have made a significant return on the German.
