It was recently reported that Germany forward Timo Werner is considering coming back to RB Leipzig, whom he left to join Chelsea in 2020.
Leipziger Volkszeitung now claims that the 26-year-old has been in contact with RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff for weeks.
Nevertheless, a return to Red Bull Arena looks unlikely. Werner currently earns €20 million per year at Chelsea, and Leipzig would probably only be able to pay him around one third of that, should they want to bring him back.
26-year-old Werner recently admitted he would like more playing time ahead of the World Cup. Newcastle United and Juventus are also said to be monitoring his situation.
