Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Aleix Garcia from Girona, but the deal could still fall through. Here’s why.
Sky Germany recently reported that Bayer Leverkusen are in the “final stages” of negotiations to sign Girona’s Aleix Garcia.
However, according to Kicker, Die Werkself’s move for the 26-year-old midfielder could still collapse.
Citing reports from Spain, the German publication suggests that the release clause in the player’s contract is not the €15 million originally reported, but rather around €20 million.
According to the report from Kicker, Leverkusen do not want to pay €20 million for the three-time Spain international, but are determined to push the price down.
Sky Germany claims that Leverkusen have already agreed personal terms with the player on a contract until 2029.
Garcia is the captain of Girona, who are coming off a sensational season in which they finished third in the Spanish La Liga.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder featured 33 times in the league for the club through the campaign, racking up three goals and six assists.
