An insight into the mounting concern at La Liga giants Barcelona, regarding the potential summer schedules in store for two of the club’s up-and-coming stars, has on Monday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Diario AS, and points towards Barca’s worries being centered on Pau Cubarsí, and Fermín López.
Both stopper Cubarsí and midfielder Fermín were of course recently afforded call-ups to Spain’s squad for the upcoming European Championships.
Those in a position of power at the Camp Nou, however, are worried that the pair will be afforded little playing time at the tournament.
This would come with a view to both then being called into Santi Denia’s La Roja ranks for the ensuing Paris Olympics.
In such a scenario, neither Cubarsí nor Fermín would be afforded the much-needed rest they require before returning for pre-season with Barcelona.
Their respective integrations into the setup of new head coach Hansi Flick, in turn, would also be impacted in a negative manner.
Deco and the Barca brass, as a result, have already set about minimising the chances of as much.
The Blaugrana, it is understood, remain in contact with the two La Masia graduates, working to convince Cubarsí and Fermín alike that accepting a call-up to the Olympics would be a mistake.
Talks have also been held with the Spanish Football Federation, to highlight the infamous ‘Pedri case’ once more.
