Incoming Sevilla head coach García Pimienta is eager to reunite with a leading member of his defensive ranks at Las Palmas this summer.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Saúl Coco as the player in question.
Coco, for his part, is fresh off a fine campaign with Las Palmas, which saw the 25-year-old feature in 30 of the club’s La Liga outings.
He was widely hailed as one of the Amarillos’ star performers, en route to maintaining their top-flight status in comfortable fashion.
With such displays, however, come inevitable outside interest.
Ahead of the expiration of Coco’s contract in the summer of 2025, a number of clubs from across the La Liga landscape are understood to be keeping a close eye on his situation in Gran Canaria.
Leading the pack when it comes to a potential deal for the Equatorial Guinea international, though, are Sevilla.
Incoming Nervionenses boss García Pimienta as a keen admirer of Coco’s talents, having overseen his development for the last two and a half years.
A reunion in Andalusia could, in turn, be on the cards this summer, with Las Palmas understood to have made clear to Coco that if he does not sign a new deal, he will be moved on.
The board at the Estadio Gran Canaria would be keen to recoup around €5 million in any sale, though cast-strapped Sevilla are hopeful of working out an agreement for less.
