Thierry Henry’s preparation for the Olympic Games took another hit today when it was reported by Le Parisien that Arsenal would not allow William Saliba (23) to represent France at the tournament.
The U23s coach has had to contest with a series of clubs announcing that they will not be letting their players attend the Summer Games hosted in Paris, with Real Madrid being the most notable but far from the exception, after they sent a letter detailing their intentions to the French Football Federation.
William Saliba has already been selected for Euros
Saliba becomes the latest player who will not be allowed to play for France at the competition, a decision likely taken because the Arsenal defender will already be part of Didier Deschamps’s squad for the Euros.
The two competitions coming weeks away from each other would mean that if Saliba attended both he would have almost no time off after an arduous season and no preseason to prepare for the next campaign.
